How Can I Receive Jesus as my Savior?
Today, we all live frantic lives. We face constant and ever increasing demands from our bosses, teachers, technology and social media. The pandemic, economic challenges and climate change dominate the news headlines. Mental health, racism and social inequality issues are challenging our generation. It is an uncertain time for our world, but there is one constant that has never changed, and will never change, and that is Jesus Christ.
Many people today see no relevance or need for a man walked the earth 2000 years ago, yet He is more relevant today than ever and His teachings continue to transform lives. If you can accept Jesus into your heart, He will help you to find your place and value in this world, help you to navigate the challenges of life today and bring you the assurance of an eternal future to come.
Jesus Christ offers us the greatest gift we can ever receive, and, thanks to His unending grace and mercy, it’s entirely free!
We are God’s creation. He created us to belong to Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:10
JESUS WANTS YOU TO KNOW HIM PERSONALLY!
Humans are relational beings. We are born into a family. We live in a modern society where we interact with many people on a daily basis. We build one-to-one relationships with people we love and care for and bond with like-minded social groups.
Jesus Christ wants to have a personal relationship with you and though this relationship you will experience God’s presence, redemption, comfort, support, encouragement, power and wisdom.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
John 15:16
This relationship starts the moment you seek Him. Jesus teaches us through His word and His spirit to live a new life. He brings us peace, gives us a fresh heart and mind, frees you form your past mistakes and shows us a new way to live. Jesus transforms our perspective on the world and helps us to find our way in it.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
JESUS CAN RESTORE YOU!
Whilst Jesus wants to give us a new life, the problem is we all have a past. We have all made mistakes and we all have regrets. We commit a sin whenever we fall short of the Lord’s holy standard. We have all sinned against God.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
It is when we try to live life our own way that we make mistakes. We cannot conquer the desires of sin on our own. We cannot save ourselves or cleanse ourselves of sin. We cannot earn our way to heaven by being good, going to church, or by being baptized.
The bible warns us that the penalty for sin is death. To deny our sins and to continue living a life of a sinful nature means we would live a life separate from God in hell for eternity.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Only Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our own sin (Romans 5:8). He was God's perfect sacrifice for our sin (Hebrews 10:4). Three days later, He rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:4) — showing that He had triumphed over sin and death once and for all (I Corinthians 15:57).
No matter how much we may have sinned, there is hope for us all! But it is only when we acknowledge our sin, repent and turn to Jesus to help us live our new life that we can begin to control our desire to sin and resist temptation.
I WANT TO KNOW JESUS!
To begin your relationship with Jesus, you need to trust Him as your Lord and Saviour. Christ is waiting for you with open arms!
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
The One who created you loves you no matter who you are or what you’ve done. He wants you to experience the profound depth of His care. You just need to take the first step towards Him.
To invite God into your life and into your heart, you must tell Him you are willing to trust Him for salvation. You can tell Him in your own words or use this simple prayer:
”Dear Lord Jesus, I humbly come to you to ask You to forgive me of my sins and save me from an eternal separation from God. I am a sinner, deserving of Hell. By faith, I trust You as Lord and Savior of my life and I accept Your perfect sacrifice on the cross as sufficient payment for my sins. I turn away from my sinful life and want to follow you. Thank You for providing the way for me to know You and to have a personal relationship with my heavenly Father. Through faith in You and You alone, I have eternal life. Thank You for hearing my prayers and loving me unconditionally. Please give me the strength, wisdom, and determination to walk in the center of Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
